Biography

Dennis Igweta BSC. (Hons), TQM, MBA (UK), Technical Director, Principal Consultant, Lead Auditor and Trainer. Dennis Igweta is one of the Kenya’s leading food safety experts. His knowledge and qualifications in Food Safety have been gained through years of Local and international industry experience as a senior food safety, technical and quality professional. He has also been involved in developing capacity across 9 Countries in Africa

Qualifications

Dennis is a qualified BRCGS (Food, storage and distribution and packaging materials); FSSC 22000 (Food and Packaging materials) and ISO 22000: 2018 Lead Auditor and a registered consultant. He is also a lead auditor and consultant in ISO 9001: 2015 Quality management systems. He has advanced diplomas in Total Quality Management and Packaging Technology for auditors by NVC Netherlands Packaging center.He is an approved assessor for BRC GS and FSSC 22000 i.e. new auditors-sign off witness assessor and on-going assessor for maintenance of External auditor qualification Dennis has supported over 25 sites achieve and maintain GFSI benchmarked standards certification in his career.

He assists manufacturers to achieve their first certificate, simplifies complex FSQMS systems at mature sites, and supports sites to re- gain certification quickly if it is removed. He advices on the site layout and design for food safety, conducts gap assessments and pre-assessments to reduce risk and improve food safety and identify opportunities for improvement and support continuous improvement.

He provides calm support in crisis and recall situations, conducts complaint investigations, allergen, foreign matter, supplier and site security audits, and microbiological contamination investigations. He helps develop and implement HACCP studies; supplier management systems; internal audit, allergen, environmental monitoring, TACCP and VACCP risk assessments, and food safety and quality culture reviews and action plans He supports clients with practical operational support to embed new ways of working and facilitates succession planning and technical skill development through coaching and training technical and operational teams.

He has excellent interpersonal, cross cultural and influencing skills and build trust with teams, customers and clients through a consistent approach and delivering results quickly and efficiently. He is always practical and challenges existing ideas and processes in a positive and constructive way. He works in close partnership with clients to ensure their businesses meet regulatory requirements, reduce operational and reputational risk and reduce costs.
